What's the deal? How does it work?
Does it cost any more? Why a store?
What's the deal?
The pbsBlog Store is a store front (or doorway) to Amazon.com. They accepted our site to be an affiliate which sounds more whoop-dee-doo than it is. Basically, it's a link from our site to theirs.
How it works:
When you go to the pbsBlog Store and buy something, you're actually shopping directly at Amazon.com. We don't stock or ship anything, it's all 100% done by Amazon. You can shop with the solid confidence of shopping with Amazon. Their track record is long and strong. We can say that from personal experience because we've been shopping with them for over ten years.
When you buy at our storefront, or click through to Amazon and buy your stuff, we get 4% of the item price. So buying through our store link directly helps us stay afloat. You're actually directing a portion of your payment price to us just by starting your shopping from here.
When you click through to Amazon and put something in your cart, but want to look around some more before checking out, that's fine. It's about YOU, so shop any old way you like! The bottom line is, once you click through to Amazon, anything and everything (pretty much) you buy during that visit will send a few cents per item our way.
Does it cost any more?
Nope. Not a penny more. It's the same in every detail whether you shop at the pbsBlog Store or go directly to Amazon.com. In either case you're still shopping at Amazon. The only difference is, when you start from here, we get a few cents on every item purchased during that visit.
Why a store?
Like everyone else, we're just trying to survive. We're darned uncomfortable with begging for donations and not big on pushing products, which makes it pretty impossible to earn any income. When we found this opportunity it seemed just right. Folks need to buy things anyway, and we need the support.
The pbsBlog gang can't stand hard sell tactics. We believe that folks can figure out for themselves what and when they want to buy without being pushed and nagged by people who just want their money. We're not big fans of endless advertising, and we don't slam our visitors with ads. Our hope is that, when you are thinking of doing some shopping anyway, you'll come here to start it off. It's an easy and painless way to divert a bit of your hard earned money toward a good cause, namely US. We think it makes folks feel good when they know that just by shopping as usual they're also helping to support something they believe in.
Which is why we hope you'll do all of your Amazon.com shopping starting from here. We'll sure appreciate it.
I have a website, can I get in on this too?
Yep. Go to the pbsBlog Store, scroll down to the bottom of the page and look for the affiliates program link. Click it and you'll be taken to Amazon's program. Get all the details you need there.
I'd like to do more to help support pbsBlog.
