This is an excellent film which thoroughly explains our money system; what it was, what it is, what it is supposed to be and what is going so terribly wrong with it. It then goes on to explain why, who, what and how. In short, it's what good journalism is supposed to be. How nice for a change. It's in simple language that anyone can understand and the viewer will walk away understanding terms and concepts that used to confuse them. Film and production quality is good, it's interesting and easy to watch. I highly recommend this one.

It's deja vu all over again, only this time in Russia. In 1999 a series of horrific bombings in Moscow blew up apartment buildings and killed 247 people. Their govt said they just knew it was terrorists, so the people backed them in going to war. Then one night, some secret service types were seen with faked license plates, putting strange stuff in an apartment building. The police were called. They found bombs all over the place. Then the government started lying their heads off and when that didn't work, they claimed it fell under the heading of national security. The people still don't believe them and they are angry. They've the hard way that governments are often dirty rotten lying bastards. Meanwhile back in America, two years later we have 9-11, and as if working from a blue print that came from Russia, our government said it was all state secrets right off the bat, and they also lied us into war. Unlike Russia's government though, ours completely refuses to answer questions. Instead, they arrogantly act like they don't have to answer to us and viciously attack and shut down, even drag away anyone who asks. It is upsetting to report that the Russians actually have more rights than we do. I never dreamed I would ever say those words.

Anthony J. Hilder films always strike me as a bit campy and melodramatic, and this one is no exception. However, it's worth overlooking that because the meat is here as well as the potatoes. There are clips from several speakers who seem to know what they're talking about and the plentitude of facts given are all things you can check for yourself. It's overall an important statement that gives a well rounded picture of the mess we're in and pulls no punches. Like many people who have woken up to the truth, he is in no mood for tip toeing around the issues. It's a good one, you should definitely watch it.

They couldn't get many people to sign up if they put out ads saying, "Killing sucks and you might die - or worse. Join the Army!" Instead they portray soldiers as dignified heroes, people who selflessly "serve". Who are they serving when the killing is 15,000 miles away? Who is the enemy when there is no other "side"? And what happens to those soldiers when they come back without limbs, or eyes, or sanity? What happens when the adrenaline subsides and they come home and don't fit in anymore? What happens when they are left alone with their thoughts, and repeating memories of the innocent dead? What do they feel when they are left to fend for themselves back home, and can't adjust? They'll tell you themselves in this sober and very real documentary that tells the truth about war, instead of the heady propaganda.

The movie that ruffled junk food giant McDonalds powerful feathers when one brave, (possibly brain damaged) man, decided to eat only McDonalds food for one month. His doctor pronounced him healthy before he began but became increasingly horrified as the month progressed and his health plummetted while his weight skyrocketed. It was no joke as he teetered on the edge of severe disease. Mickey D's was not available for comment for some reason, go figure. It might make you feel kind of sick watching this but you'll see for yourself that the non-food at the clown restaurant is a health hazard.

The war on drugs does three things very well. 1) It destroys the competition for CIA's drug smuggling and sales; 2) It kills poor people to clear the way for big corporations to come in and spread their "free trade" all around. Free trade as we all know is a euphimism for buying the planet one acre at a time, or just taking it away from the people who happen to be living on it. 3) It exponentially increases drug traffic into the US and Europe. In fact there has never been so much drugs on the streets since the "war on drugs" got underway back in the 80's. That's one heck of a long war. The one thing the war on drugs doesn't do is keep drugs from being manufactured, imported, sold and used all over the world. Our prisons are overflowing with people who are there just for possessing small amounts of drugs for personal use while addicts are turned away from treatment centers all over the US every single day. They are told there is not enough money for drug treatment and that they will have to try again in a few months. Yet addicts never get turned away from a jail cell. There is no waiting in America's prisons. That should tell you where the governments real priorities are in the so called war on drugs.

If this is an example of the quality of basic tv in Britain, American TV is more worthless than even I realized. The BBC looks at the history of the CIA and retraces many of it's achievements over the years, most of which are none too flattering. Mind control, MK Ultra, drugging people, Nazi's, murder, Coup d'état, kidnapping, & all kinds of immoral CIA stuff. Features many interviews with insiders. Pardon the commercials, just fast forward through them. It's a good watch.

Bill Moyers, the respected TV journalist, analyzes the threats to constitutional government posed by an illegitimate network operating from within the government but using secrecy to set itself up outside of the government / peoples oversight. All this back in 1987. This documentary gives a fascinating overview of what has actually happened in the last 50 years regarding the CIA and the Cold War (including Iran, Guatamala, Cuba, Vietnam and Chile). Shortly after take off on August 14, 2005, Helios flight 522 took off from Cyprus headed for Athens. While still climbing to flight altitude the pilots were confused by a warning alarm going off that would only go off on the ground. In the middle of a call to the airlines engineering support team, communications from the plane abruptly ceased. After two hours without a response from the plane, fighter jets were dispatched to get a visual of the aircraft and find out what was going on. They were stunned to find the airplane flying itself with no sign of anyone in the cockpit. The jet pilots could further see that no one was moving inside the passenger cabin. Passengers sat slumped in their seats with oxygen masks down and hanging. A terrifying mystery slowly unfolds thereafter.

BBC2. On Sept. 6, 1970 a BOAC passenger jet was hijacked by Palestinian "terrorists" with 20 children on board. What sticks out about this film is how incredibly polite and non-violent the whole thing was. The children on board weren't even upset, in fact they played with one of the hijacker's kids, and all of the passengers were eventually released unharmed. One of the hijackers, a woman, was taken into custody by the British authorities and it is utterly fascinating to contrast their treatment - and ultimate release - of this "terrorist" compared to what is done now to people who haven't even done anything except look wrong. It is depressing to report that in this instance authorities were willing to negotiate with the hijackers and because of that no person was harmed. BUT instead of getting a clue that listening and working with demands for a fast and peaceful outcome works, the official policy from that day forth has been to flatly refuse to find a peaceful outcome and instead to be arrogant and violent so that as many people as possible can get hurt and the terrorists can become increasingly more dangerous. Smart move as usual dipsticks. Governments aren't always right you know.

Depicting Middle Eastern and Muslim history, architecture, culture, science, medicine, education, politics and war. Focuses on Spain and unravels a few of their favorite heroes, holidays and historical beliefs, revealing Muslims, not Christians are at the root. There is a lot of gorgeous architecture and art to marvel at, which have historical relevance in many of our modern sciences; for example the Fibonacci numbers. It's a rare introduction to the unfamiliar history of the middle east. The purpose of the film clearly, is to educate a western audience about and around the prominence of the middle east historically and it's influence on many aspects of western civilization. I'm sorry that the writers felt the need to weave in somewhat incendiary remarks occasionally, as it simply defeats the purpose of the film. It will definitely turn some folks away from an otherwise enlightening and worthwhile film. If you aren't prone to have a cow over every little perceived slight in life, then you'll likely be able to appreciate the film for what it has to offer. But if you're the fly off the handle type ("we're number one in spite of reality") then skip it.

In the very beginning he starts talking physics, but by the end of this really interesting presentation you'll understand anti-gravity well enough to realize the gov't is probably using it already and keeping it from the public. So what else is new? Several amazing clips of things floating; and of whiz bang types talking about this area of science. I found it quite helpful afterwards when watching UFO films as I've always suspected we don't have any aliens around here, and the ships in the sky are ours. If nothing else this movie counts toward a Physics Lite horsdeovre certificate. Urp. Enjoy.
