it's a good place to stuff your head
MIKE
Dear Mike, we miss you very much.  Who's ass can we go kick for you?

When we heard that the poop-heads at AAR fired Mike we couldn't believe it.
I went immediately to the AAR website thinking there would be some information
there.  I know, how dense can you get, but hey, I was in shock and a little
freaked out.  I know you know what I'm talking about.

It torks me off that they're still billing his time slot with his name.
I think that's a cheese bag low down sneaky thing to do and the game is
to get Mike's fans to tune in expecting him to be there.  When they
figure out he's not there they're supposed to assume he's just away
for a spell and the plan is that Mike's fans will get hooked on whoever
is there and forget all about Mike.  AS IF.  At least they're consistently
clueless.

I'm sure the hosts they bring in will be nice people but the bottom line
is so obvious, do I need to say it?  IT WON'T BE MIKE.  What's there to
tune in to if he's not there?  Do they think I put up with 100 commercials
a night because I like the incessant endless interruptions trying to get
my money?  Trust me, that is so not the case.  It is ONLY because
MIKE MALLOY IS AWESOME that I would have any reason whatsoever to tune
in and be driven up the wall with incessant commercials.  I do this for
him because he is worth it.

Since he's not on the air in the evenings, (for the time being), all I can
say is it really sucks.  He is needed.  He is sorely missed. He is our
Sin Eater, his rage is cleansing and he's probably prevented untold
numbers of anger induced heart attacks and strokes because of this
incredible mystical skill of his.

But it's more than that.  He's just such a great guy.  He makes you feel
like he's your friend.  He's got the biggest heart and he's always
telling the truth about what he thinks and how he feels.  It's never
contrived with him, you know you're getting the real thing. He can be
so funny sometimes you laugh until it hurts, and other times so serious
that you're in tears.  He cares about injustice, he's passionate about it,
and he brings up the people that the world wants to forget because he knows
we care about all of them too.  Because of him, real people get real help.

I am so proud of him.

The way he talks about Molly and those little peeks he gives us into life
at home with Kathy are precious. They tell us about who he is and what he is.
And what he is is special. Irreplaceable.  He's just the best talk show host
there is, period.

Some people say they're offended when he says, "Bastards", but you know
what?  The people he says that about are bastards.  It needs to be said.
We are all angry and when he gets enraged he's just so much better at it
than we are, it almost humbles you. After hearing him rip one of these
neo-con jerks a new one I've often said, "Damn.  And I thought I was
pissed off.  You go Mike!", and I'm filled with peace because Mike
Malloy is on the job.

Just so you know, we emailed Mike as soon as we got word of what happened.
We told him we were really sorry to hear about it and urged him to think
about going solo.  We have no doubt he could get paid subscribers to his
show, we wouldn't hesitate for a second.  We also said we knew it was
overwhelming and there was much to deal with and think about, but we
said whatever he decided to do, we'd be behind him all the way.  We also
told him that pbsBlog.com is 100% available in any way we can be and if
there was ANYTHING we could do, he had only to say it and it would be a
done deal.  We also asked him to please let us know when he's going back
on the air so we could help spread the word.

We haven't heard back from him and figure he's probably deluged with
email and has a lot to deal with at the moment, so we're fine with that.
We just really hope he got our message and knows that we support him
completely and are standing by ready to be of service in any way we can.

Until he is back on the air, week nights will continue to be empty and
free of AAR.  Many of his listeners will continue feeling lost and depressed.
He is really missed.  pbsBlog knows how you're feeling, because we feel it too.
Every single day.  If we get word from him we will pass it along.  If we
hear about him going back on the air we will post it here.  If you hear it
before we do let us know so we can post it on this page.  Share any info
you get and we'll gladly post it so Mike's fans can get some badly
needed news about him and about what's going on. We will hang in there.
No, we're not going anywhere, you can count on that.  Like you, we are
steadfastly waiting for Mike Malloy to return to the air, and we know
it's going to happen.  It's just a matter of when.

So chin up!  We can wait, no problemo.  He'll be back.

Just in case you didn't know, Mike has a website at mikemalloy.com. He left a message there on
8/30 confirming the news.  There is an update today 9/8 and here's what it says:

"We are still trying to recover from the shock of last week, but wanted to check in and thank you all for what you're doing on our behalf with the calls, emails, and petitions. We're overwhelmed by your kind words and actions.

Many thanks as well to our former colleagues Randi Rhodes and Sam Seder for all they have done and are doing to support us during this ordeal. They are true friends and we can't thank them enough.

We are traveling this weekend and hope to have some radio news to share with you next week. By the way, we so appreciate all the email and calls and petitions. Your voices are being heard and given real attention.

Many thanks,
Malloys

So with any luck, there may be some news as soon as next week.  Let's keep our fingers crossed.
Have a nice weekend Mike & family!

UPDATE  from www.MikeMalloy.com (psst!..the red heart in the top left corner is a link to his page)

Mike was recently interviewed by salon.com for an article they're writing about Air America Radio past, present, and future. We haven't been told the publication date, but watch for it. Mike had some interesting observations. Speaking of which . . .

Strange things can happen when certain corporate entities fire much of their website editing department without first making sure at least one remaining employee knew how to operate the darned thing. I'm just sayin' . . . . .

And be sure to tune into Peter Werbe at 10 PM ET on Air America Radio while you can. He's a good guy and a premier talk show host and you should check him out, wish him luck, and pray his checks cash.

And again - for all the kind folks who keep emailing wanting to know the awful truth, rest assured: we will share all the details of our personal experiences with Air America once our financial and other mutual business issues are resolved; hopefully sooner rather than later. You deserve to know the truth and as you would imagine, there's quite a story to tell.

While there is no definite job news to report, we now have three potential radio opportunities to consider and are cautiously optimistic that we'll be back on the air soon. Can't wait to talk with you all again! Your supportive email and calls and petitions are being noticed and just might hasten our return to radio.

Watch your back,
Malloys

UPDATE

Hi Truthseekers.

MEDIA ALERT!

Listen to Mike Malloy as he substitutes for Jerry Springer next Thursday and Friday October 19 & 20! Check your local Springer on the Radio affiliates for broadcast times.

As for media news: Here's an article about Mike in the latest issue of Creative Loafing. Mike was also recently interviewed by salon.com for an article they're writing about Air America Radio past, present, and future, but that's been awhile now so maybe the article was shelved. Atlanta Magazine is also considering an article, or at least a blog, by Doug Monroe.

We hope to have some good news to share with you in the next few days (as well as our Air America saga), thanks for hanging in there! What a long, strange trip its been.

As always, your email, calls, and petitions are tremendously helpful. It certainly is a big boost to our morale and is noticed by potential radio outlets as well. Thank you thank you thank you so much, we'll be in touch.

Watch your back,
Malloys

another message from angie@pbsBlog.com

Hey Fellow Truthseekers,

It's been over a month since they took Mike away from us.
I dunno about you but I sure miss him.  I'd give my left
hind leg to hear Kathy say, "you shore got a purdy mouth!"
I'd even sit through the quacking duck song AND a polka
back to back, with glee.  THE GOOD NEWS is that Mike will
be sitting in for Jerry Springer on THURS & FRI Oct 19 & 20,
so it will be short but sweet to hear him on the air again.

BTW, if you need a Mike fix, his archives are available
at The White Rose Society. Here's the link:  GO

I'm so depressed.  Hope he's back soon.
