Welcome to pbsBlog!

We're not affiliated with PBS, and we don't actually do a blog either,
so that worked out pretty well.

What we DO have is a powerful collection of MOVIES you'll never see on corporate broadcast television.  What "they" call alternative media amounts to facts and information that make the government look bad, and the government doesn't like to look bad.  It does whatever it wants and has the corporate news cover it up and flat lie about it.  The result?  A public living in blatant censorship, unaware of truth about our own country and the truth about those people we think of as our beneficent government.   The media is controlled by a government that blows off our constitution at will and can't be prosecuted for it.
YOU SHOULD KNOW.

Michael Badnarik is a Libertarian who knows the Constitution.  He ran for president in 2004.  Michael teaches a one day seminar on the Constitution. You can see it for free at archive.org.  As unlikely as it sounds, this is a really interesting class.  You have to have an understanding of your rights or one day no one will be around who knows what rights are.  When that happens this country will not be free.  The class is divided into 1 hour segments that anyone can handle.  Try it, you'll really like it.

Nebraska Professor Dies Burned and Bound

Associated Press  May 7, 2007

CHADRON, Neb. - When Steven Haataja came to this remote corner of Nebraska, where cowboy hats are still worn for work and rodeo trophies greet visitors to the local college, it was supposed to be a new beginning for the mathematician who had just earned his doctorate.

But just seven months later, in March, the man colleagues say had astounding intelligence was found burned to death in fire-scarred hills just south of the small school where he taught.

According to a source close to the investigation, Haataja was burned and bound, though it's not clear how. He died of smoke and soot inhalation, along with "thermal injuries," authorities said last month.

"When you see something like that, somebody in that kind of condition, you just hope they catch whoever did it," Mike Bloom, one of two ranchers who found the body, said in March.

Haataja, with his large frame and fedora hat, was more visible than most on Chadron's wide, Western streets for a simple reason: he didn't own a running car and walked everywhere from his downtown apartment, including to the college that's a mile away.

He disappeared from this city of 5,600 in December. Police saw no signs he planned on leaving and have acknowledged they did little to search for the professor.

"We could've searched these remote areas for days and days and days, but where do you start?" said acting Chadron Police Chief Margaret Keiper.

After months of near-silence about the case and criticism that authorities have been slow-footed to investigate, more information is supposed to be released Tuesday at a news conference.

Residents say it is long overdue. Without any answers, the intensity of the speculation over his death has "gotten crazy," said Kit Reeves, who works across the street from where the professor lived.

"Some people are freaked out," Reeves said. "Was he just randomly picked on or was there a reason?"

In the fervor, former city councilman Morgan Muller and others said they worried that Haataja was the victim of a hate crime. Kelen Kahrs said he and other students wondered whether their professor was singled out because of his effeminate mannerisms.

Haataja's best friend, Tim Sorenson, said he was not gay, and police wouldn't say whether they believe it was a hate crime.

Others suggest that Haataja, who had been hospitalized early last year for depression, committed suicide.

But it would have been difficult for Haataja, 46, to make the journey himself to the rough hills where his body was found.

He suffered a broken hip in March 2005 while ice skating and the accident made the already cautious Haataja even more careful, Sorenson said. He avoided walking on bumpy sidewalks and stepping over objects more than a couple feet high.

"This is the most mysterious thing that's ever happened here," said Con Marshall, a lifelong area resident who has worked at Chadron State College for 38 years.

Fellow professors at Chadron State said their colleague was looking to the future.

Assistant professor Phil Cary said Haataja didn't cocoon himself inside mathematical abstractions or depressive states and lock others out.

He used his dry sense of humor on co-workers, liked to chitchat about a variety of topics and sought advice on better ways to explain math to his students. Colleagues also said Haataja seemed immersed in his new job and liked to work late at night.

Shortly before he was last seen alive, Cary said Haataja asked for advice on what books to use during the spring semester.

"I know a person can hide depression, but I didn't see any of it," Cary said.

The Nebraska State Patrol recently took over the investigation. Loren Zimmerman, a former Los Angeles Police detective who taught criminal justice at Chadron State College and launched his own unofficial search for Haataja, said he is confident state agents can solve the case.

"But it's gonna take a little bit of work," Zimmerman said.
Nine months ago a man by the name of Steven Haataja moved to a remote town in Nebraska called Chadron.  Said to have "astounding" intelligence he took a job at the local college just after  earning his doctorate in mathmatics.

Four months after he got there, he disappeared. He's been missing for three months.

Local ranchers found his body which had been bound and burned.  They were shocked by what they saw.  Steven died of smoke inhilation and from being burned to death alive.

The police said they didn't try to look for him because it was too much trouble.

Local residents said Steven, who was a big guy,  was a nice man and they were upset about the police not even trying to find him.  In fact, this is really creeping them out. They want to know why this happened because they don't see a reason for it.

One area resident accused him of being a "fag".

Another suggested he committed suicide due to depression.

I highly recommend the police focus on those two idiots if they want to find out who murdered the man.  The police might also focus on themselves with that piss poor attitude.  I wonder if they'd have thought it was too much trouble if it was their little girl missing.  They'd have started anywhere.

It might be best to call in the FBI or another agency that wouldn't be so comfortable covering or assisting with murdering "fags" or people with middle eastern sounding last names.  Can you say backwards ignorant morons?  Because this sure as hell stinks to high heaven.

Rest in peace Steven Haataja.  On behalf of the real people of the world, please accept our apologies and heart felt sympathy.  What happened to you shouldn't happen to anyone for any reason.  It was a heinous crime that exceeds my capacity to comprehend.  I can only hope there really is a hell with eternal flames because the men who did this deserve to be there.

Having said that, what is up with the police in this country lately?  How dare they say it's too much trouble to do what they get paid to do?  How far could the guy have gone?  Couldn't they at least have tried?  What excuse do they have for shrugging it off as though the disappearace of any citizen of this country is irrelevant?  It's not irrelevant, it will never be irrelevant and attitudes like that are criminal in and of themselves!

Either you're lazy beyond belief or you're arrogant without just cause. No matter how you cut it, you Chadron police are jerks of the highest order and you deserve to lose your jobs and be booted out of that small town.  Those people are depending on you and you've shown the whole country how little respect or concern you feel for them.  You're despicable.

And what's with the psycho-ramble these days?  "Thermal injuries"?  Are you taking your cues from the Pentagon?  Trying to down play something that has no business being played down?  Have you ever heard of "the truth"?  You may have no respect for it, but the rest of us do.  Try saying, "The man was burned alive bound and gagged and he suffered a horrible death".  That's the truth.  Thermal injuries my ass!  God you people make me want to hurl.
Shame on the lot of you.

My Take And Rant On This Story
1 dead in casino parking lot explosion

Associated Press Writer Mon May 7, 2007

LAS VEGAS - A device left on the top of a car in a casino parking garage exploded early Monday, killing a man who tried to pick it up, authorities said.

The blast shortly after 4 a.m. on the second floor of garage behind the Luxor hotel-casino was not considered a terrorist act police said.

Well excuse me, how is this NOT a terrorist act when every other kind of crime is now considered terrorism?  It's not terrorism when they say it's not terrorism.

"This appears to have been a small device that was constructed in such a way to target a single individual victim," Deputy Police Chief Ted Moody said. "It was successful in doing that, unfortunately."

The victim, who was pronounced dead later at a hospital, worked at a business inside the hotel, police said, adding that the case was being investigated as "a homicide with an unusual weapon." Another person who was with the man narrowly escaped injury and was cooperating with investigators, police said. Their names were not released.

An unusual weapon?  Hello?  This was a Bomb.  What's unusual?  It must have been particularly fancy or sophisticated; hard to get a hold of.

Police spokesman, Officer Bill Cassell, declined to describe the device, but said initial reports that it was inside a backpack were wrong.

If we've learned anything by now it's that the only chance of getting at the truth, is from initial reports; BEFORE the authorities are able to come in and change everything to suit their own stories.  This stinks.

No threat had been made against the Luxor, Cassell said.

No, this was personal.  It sounds like pay back.  Revenge.  A lesson.  An example to others.

Moody said investigators were reviewing the surveillance videotapes from multiple cameras in and around the two-story parking structure.

How much do you want to bet they don't find anything?

Gordon Absher, a spokesman for MGM Mirage Inc., which owns the Luxor, said the casino was not damaged and, except for the top floor of the parking garage, the resort continued normal operations.

Gee, that's swell you big rich, crooked jerks.  How nice of the sophisticated bomber to make sure not to damage your joint.  Just enough boom to blow up one guy picking up a back pack.

Aerial video showed no apparent damage to the garage, where entrances were blocked while police, firefighters and federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents investigated.

The ATF.  Federal thugs.  Oklahoma City. Columbine.  Countless individual hit jobs and foul play.  Doing dirty work for the big boys. Gee, THEY could get sofisticated explosives.

There was little damage around the vehicle, police said.

Immediately after the explosion, entrances were sealed and authorities went vehicle to vehicle with bomb-sniffing dogs. Later, people were allowed to remove their vehicles after an inspection, Absher said.

Why did they have to inspect everyone's vehicle?  The dogs didn't sniff anything out.  This is blatant police state tactics.  It's uncalled for.  It's an outrage.  None of those people had to submit to being searched without a warrant and the warrant wouldn't come without reasonable cause.  There was no reasonable cause if the dogs didn't signal anything.  Can't they tell just by talking to people anymore?  That used to be enough for real cops. They're training us to be slaves. Every time they show up anywhere we're just supposed to expect to have our rights anihilated because they're so special since bush brought on his fascist police state.

Several hours after the explosion a report of an unattended bag prompted a brief evacuation of the race and sports betting area inside the casino. Police were called about 11 a.m. and a bomb squad determined the bag was an empty computer case, a police spokesman said.

Absher said there was no connection between the incidents other than "awareness was heightened" among employees.

You can bet it was.

The Luxor, a pyramid-shaped hotel at the south end of the Las Vegas Strip, has more than 4,400 rooms and 4,200 employees.

It also has a 1,001 untold stories, including this one.

What's going on here?

The Constitution protects our right to protest. The police are supposed to protect and defend our rights. Instead they are waging war on them, and on us.  Why arrest an unarmed grandmother?  Why throw unarmed citizens on the ground, face down, cuff them and drag them off to jail cells with such brutality?  Do you pay them to point machine guns at you, brutalize you and defy your rights?

Do you realize that protesting against this abuse of power and authority could get you thrown behind bars?  Is it wrong to speak out against police turned into military forces?  How can we demand redress from the government if we are brutalized and arrested for peacefully trying to speak about constitutional abuses?
What's really wrong is having our police turned into domestic military forces, used against us to allow total control of us all by a government gone rogue and power mad.  This is not freedom.  This is fascism.  It's just like Hitler's Germany.  Did you vote for this?  Do you want a police force on the streets who sees us as "the enemy"?  Is this called for?  Are we dangerous?  Or are we in danger?  Had enough yet?  If not don't worry, much much more is coming.

By the way, nobody's stopping them.  How can the whole country's police forces turn militant without being ordered to turn militant?  Who can give such orders?  Only the highest office in the land.  No one's coming to save us from what's ahead.  That's up to us.

While it's still possible to legally speak out against this, while we're still able to demand redress of our grievances from the government, shouldn't we be hollering our heads off?  Not contacting our elected representatives and telling them this is wrong and demanding it be stopped is the equivalent of giving consent.  Legally.

If you don't like this you won't like martial law.  Speak out now.  Call or write your representative and tell them you won't stand for this.  Demand they honor the constitution.  It exists as a contract between us and the government and it prevents them from abusing our rights.  But they are abusing our rights.  They are breaking the contract.  It's up to us to shout about it because nobody will be doing it for us.
